Overview |
The firm
was honored on October 29, 1970, for its work at the Charles Center Plaza
when it was selected as the winning entry in a national competition and
received the "4th Biennial HUD Award for Excellence". On May 21, 1986,
Allied was presented with an "Excellence in Concrete" Award for creative
use of concrete by the Maryland Chapter of American Concrete
Institute, in our capacity as General Contractor on Maryland State Highway
Administration Contract Q-609-501-271, the Corsica River Bridge. In
recognition of our excellent performance in the reconstruction of State
Circle and Francis Street in Annapolis, the Mayor of the City of Annapolis
proclaimed March 12, 1991, to be Allied Contractors Day. The American
Society of Civil Engineers honored Allied with the Outstanding Civil
Engineering Achievement Award for work associated with the rehabilitation
of the Druid Lake Fountain on May 11, 2005 and Merit Award for West
Shore Park, East Inner Harbor, on December 7, 2006. These are only a few out of many awards our projects have
received.
Allied is a
founding member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. of
Maryland; member of the Engineering Society of Baltimore; the Society of
American Military Engineers; and supports many other technical, civic and
charitable organizations.
Allied
Contractors, Inc. employs over 150 people, of
which more than 50 percent are Baltimore City residents. When first
permitted by government regulations, Allied instituted a voluntary Profit
Sharing Plan to benefit its employees. In 1986, this plan was converted to
an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and the employees now own over 40 percent
of the company stock. Our growth and experience are amplified through the
positive attitude of our dedicated and involved employees.
Allied
Contractors, Inc. has also maintained its offices at 204 E. Preston Street
in Baltimore, Maryland, for approximately 50 years. At this location we
maintain a drafting staff, experienced in architectural detailing, shoring
and scaffolding plans, structural detailing, etc. Our project management
staff consists of Licensed Professional Engineers and Landscape Architects
experienced in building design, heavy engineered construction and project
planning.
Allied
Contractors, Inc., has maintained an equipment/storage complex at 3510
Hawkins Point Road in Curtis Bay, Baltimore, Maryland, for over 40 years.
This facility maintains an assortment of steel sheeting and piling,
scaffolding and shoring systems, man-lifts, bucket trucks, cranes, dozers,
loaders and other assorted equipment. The facility serves as staging
grounds for our Maintenance of Traffic and Equipment Rental
projects. The complex also has metal and wood
fabrication abilities including welders, presses, drill presses, band
saws, radial arm saws, planers, etc. This facility has been very
instrumental in our ability of securing many projects completed over the
years for the City of Baltimore.
